E. Claiborne Robins Stadium
We are excited to announce that the University of Richmond has completed construction of the E. Claiborne Robins stadium and the Richmond Spiders football team will play their first home game at the stadium at 1pm on September 18th. The stadium bears the name of E. Claiborne Robins, in honor of the decades of generous support that the Robins Family and the Robins Foundation have provided to the University, including athletics and the new stadium project which was designed and built using the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) rating standards.
In December 2008, the Spiders realized the dream of winning a national championship but what they didn’t know was that very day construction of their new home stadium had begun. When planning started on the stadium nearly a decade ago, no one knew that the football program would be coming off a championship season just as construction of the stadium began. The coincidence heightens excitement about Spider football’s return to campus. For the past 81 years the Spiders have played home games at a stadium five miles from campus. Richmond’s dedicated alumni fans also have a reason to cheer because when they invite family members to support the Spiders, they will be returning to the campus and familiar sights like the Robins Center and the Millhiser Gymnasium. Robins Stadium will host six home football games in its inaugural season, as the Spiders make another run for the Football Championship Subdivision trophy they brought home in 2008. Go Spiders!!!

Harmony Baptist Church in Kentucky
If your organization needs to raise funds, a brick fundraiser is a proven method of generating substantial revenue and requires minimal time and effort. Additionally, this type of fundraiser creates a permanent connection between the donors and the fundraising organization.
When creating a flyer, it is important to explain the reason for the project and how the money raised will help the community. The flyer should include a rendition to show where the engraved donor bricks will be installed and an order form. It is a good idea not to use the word “sale” within your flyer but rather to use the word “donation”.
Once you have created a flyer, the next step is to market your campaign. The Chamber of Commerce can provide you with a list of names and addresses of businesses in the City that you can use to build a donor list. Another suggestion is to contact the main office of local universities for a list of students, alumni and staff. Create a kiosk that displays custom engraved brick samples which will allow potential donors to see what they are purchasing. Create a website that will allow donors to purchase an engraved brick online. Ask the local newspaper to print a free press release outlining your project. Create posters to place throughout your organization and send email blasts to members, contacts and corporations.
When researching engraving companies, we strongly recommend that you visit project sites that have been installed for several years or more and see for yourself what methods of engraving withstand normal wear and tear and weather conditions. Furthermore, it is imperative that you choose an engraving company that will provide you with a written lifetime guarantee. It is essential that 100% of the revenue raised is allocated for your organization’s fundraising cause and not into replacing any bricks that do not meet the standards of your committee and donors. The overall longevity and appearance of your brick/tile area will determine how successful your campaign will be.

Are you installing bricks for a commemorative brick/paver program? Installing engraved bricks is a fairly simple process however it is important that they are properly installed so we do suggest hiring a professional mason. Should you choose to install the bricks yourself; detailed installation instructions can be found on The Brick Industry Association website at www.bia.org or you can open this PDF .
If you are pulling up existing bricks in order to replace them with engraved bricks, you will need to purchase a paver puller. You can purchase a paver puller and watch this instructional video on how to use it.
You will need the following items for creating an installed brick area from scratch:
Brick: Brick paver sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but they generally come in 4”x8” and 8”x8” and are 2 ¼” thick
Sand: Sand is used to hold the bricks in place and you should use only well-graded, washed concrete sand
Crushed Stone: Stone is used to create a strong base and drainage
Border/Edging: Brick, rigid plastic or metal edging or wood
String & Wooden Stakes: For aligning the bricks
Tools: Flat shovel, Wheelbarrow, Garden hose with find spray nozzle, Hard garden rake, Broad-blade chisel, brick splitter or masonry saw for cutting and fitting the brick, Level, Wood “screed” strip – a 2 x 4, at least 3’ long for creating a uniform and sand bed depth, Electric drill and bit (for wood edging only), Trowel, Broom, Plate Compactor

Veterans Square Project
The Lower Makefield Township Veterans Committee is dedicated to creating a timeless monument to honor veterans of the past, present and future within a community park setting.
Veterans Square Park is located on the corner of Edgewood and Heacock Roads in Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania. Located adjacent to a grand oak tree in the park, our American flag is surrounded by black and white walls symbolizing war and peace, and the transformation from darkness to light, sadness to joy.
Atop the black wall rises a life-size bronze eagle representing the emergence of the human spirit from despair to hope for future generations. Local veterans who gave their lives in service to our country will be memorialized on a bronze plaque within the protective walls of the monument.
You can honor a local veteran at no charge by engraving his/her name on the top of the circular wall which envelopes and protects its citizens or you can purchase a paver for any veteran dear to you or be a community participant by purchasing a paver engraved with your name, the name of a family member or your business name.
The pavers represent the citizens of the community forming the foundation of the monument. There will also be a bronze plaque honoring the WWII veterans of the Edgewood neighborhood and a patriotic, inspirational quote will be inscribed on the interior of the white civic wall. If you would like an order form to make a tax deductible donation, please call (267) 274-1195 or e-mail BrickSales@VeteransSquare.org.

Some have called this the “century of the environment”. Individuals and companies can no longer assume that societal challenges such as pollution, dwindling natural resources and climate change can be ignored and reserved for future generations to contend with.
This dawning era of innovation and creativity in “green technology” is bringing the promise of a healthier planet and the prospect of growing businesses that can help to sustain its health. Brick Markers® is focused on sustainability (meeting the needs of society in manners that can continue indefinitely into the future without damaging or depleting natural resources). Our patented laser engraving and its color are both a result of 100% natural inorganic earth element materials and use no solvents, paints, plastics or VOCs (volatile organic compounds). This is the ultimate in “green technology” and we are happy to do our part in sustaining the environment.
Additionally, as one of the oldest, continuously used building materials in the world, clay brick’s unsurpassed life cycle, exceptional energy efficiency, natural ingredients, minimal waste, and countless recycling options are just a few of the properties that make brick the superb sustainable material it has been for thousands of years.
Over the past thirty years the manufacturing of bricks has improved dramatically, contributing to the inherent sustainability of the product. Manufacturing plants have been re-engineered to make use of highly efficient tunnel kilns, fired using natural gas, and all waste heat and clay is recycled within the plant. Many plants also collect all the water they use.

We at Brick Markers® are animal lovers and we understand just how devastating the loss of a beloved pet is. For most pet owners, loss of a pet can be as heartbreaking as losing a family member. When a cherished companion dies, you have a choice as to how you want to celebrate, honor and preserve the memories of the life they lived with you. We have found that people have experienced healing and closure during their loss by remembering their beloved pet with a pet memorial. Therefore, we offer products that will create an eternal remembrance of your pet. Our state of the art laser engraving technology enables us to engrave very detailed images and we can even engrave your pet’s portrait.
Rainbow Bridge Poem
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, jut as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally met, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together . . .

Workers at the walk memorial
The foundation is creating “The Walk-An African American Tribute”, a winding memorial path that will bear the names, ages and plantations of more than 6,000 Liberty County, Georgia, enslaved men, women and children and your monetary donation will help to honor and give thanks for all they did and for who they were.
The engraved bricks within the walkway will bear the first names of the slaves and their ages in 1860. Slaves didn’t have surnames during this time. The foundation intends to finish the walkway this year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 1860 Census, which inspired the idea for the memorial.
They will commemorate the walkway on December 11th with a luminary, guest speakers, refreshments and entertainment. A donation of just $50.00 will fund one engraved memorial brick. A contribution of $125.00 will help construct one square yard of walkway, including one engraved brick. Since 1971 and the rediscovery of the plantation,
Woodmanston has been a volunteer effort to keep the place open to the public or from reverting back to the wilds.
If Woodmanston is to survive, however, and become a place that matters to the community and the region, operational funds are needed now. A staff must be hired to bring plans designed to secure the site to fruition. Additionally, volunteers are needed and funds are limited. For more information or to volunteer your time, please visit www.leconte-woodmanston.org/thewalk.html.
